Covid-19 and Meat

I know it sounds like a strange title for a new article here but I have changed a lot of things with this Coronavirus and one of the things is my way of shopping.

Although I have not done a lot of writing here for the simple reason that my life has changed and I am working more from home now.

I guess I am in the lucky circumstances to be able to do that and still get my full paycheck and not have been laid of like so many other people.

Sorry, I got a little sidetracked, but I felt the need to tell this first so you know where the rest of the story is coming from.

I use to by most of my meat in a butcher store that was not too far away from my house. Most of the time I stopped by there on my way home from work.

Although this store never shut down completely there were days that I did not wanted to go in there because there was a line waiting outside.

What I changed

Now I realized that is was not the best idea to go to stores most of the time I focused on buying food online. I still tried to go to the store every other week but most of it come from online stores at this moment.

It is not easy to find the best places to buy food and especially meat online. I am pretty picky with what I put in my mouth for about a year.

I did a lot of reading and researching on the internet and found many resources but was not too happy with what I found in most cases.

It was hard to find out if the meat was grass-fed, heritage pork or just raised on corn and grain.

I prefer grass-fed and finished beef since that is the normal way cows and other big roamers used to eat for many centuries.

I found a few websites that offered the type of information I was looking for and I will tell you about them later.

Will It Change again?

I know the we all hope that this whole virus will be gone very soon and we can go back to our lives the way it was before.

I miss my contacts at work and also in my social life I had to make a lot of changes to stay safe and me and my friends stay in touch through face time conversions.

If my shopping will go back totally the way it was before I am not sure of. The way I buy food online now and have it delivered to my doorsteps is actually very convenient.

Although the prices are higher I think that the meat prices are not that much higher. I think you basically pay for the convenience and the shipping cost.

Overall the quality I experienced is pretty good and is not better or worse than what I bought (and sometimes still do) at my local butcher store.

I am almost sure that I will keep making use of these online options in the future but will probably go back to the stores also just simply for the human contacts that I miss.

If you have changed your habits of shopping feel free to leave a comment and I will try to get back to you as soon as possible.

In the mean time, stay safe and watch what you eat.
